Do you own a bright colored oversized sweater and want to get more creative with the way you style it? Look no further. Sometimes, some of my best looks are planned at the whim, like this one. I literally thought of this outfit the morning of when it was time to shoot my looks for the week. It’s so amazing the amount of looks you can style with this one plain sweater.
Originally, I was going to just shoot this look with a bare bright oversized sweater with no accessories, but that shortly changed. I got to looking in my scarf/bonnet drawer seeking a silk scarf to lay my edges down and stumbled upon this cute belt. I quickly grabbed the belt, wrapped it around my waist and instantly became so excited with the ensemble I just created! I was so excited! I took a very cute, chic, and casual outfit and transformed it into an professional office look with just one small accessory! Like what?
When you’re styling your oversized sweaters, there are so many style directions one can take. It can be styled as chic, casual (which is my ultimate go to), minimalist vibe, super edgy, edgy/chic, minimalist/elegant, professional/chic. I can sit here all day and go on!
The pieces you include in your ensemble are so important. Each piece you decide to pair with your look plays a huge role in making the ensemble complete and balanced. I cant stress enough the importance of being strategic with the pieces you include with your outfits. I think its good to always keep in mind style and comfort when pairing looks together. If you’re wanting a minimalistic vibe, I would pair it with a pair of wide leg pant, a simple black bag, and a cute pair of booties coupled with a small chunky heel. It’s very important to wear some sort of heel with your wide leg pants. When you don’t, it creates a messy, unflattering silhouette and it just looks sloppy especially if worn with flats. Trust me, I know I used to wear my wide leg pants like that decades ago and always felt like something was off when I wore them with super flat shoes.
I paired my striped wide leg pants with my sweater because I wanted to create a look that encompassed my style; chic and stylish. The pointy chunky heel sets off a chic vibe, while the snakeskin bag adds that stylish edge. A chic bootie is sure to add a nice touch of style to your outfit, always remember that!
Im so thrilled I came up with the belt idea. I discovered a professional chic outfit I’d love to wear in the office, and you can to! If you have a belt that goes with another outfit or you just have a belt hanging around in your accessories drawer, I encourage you to play around with it and see if pairs well with an oversized sweater you own. Have fun with fashion! Play around with fabrics, belts, and scarves. These are the true game changers of your ensemble.
