Podcasts are beginning to replace radio talk shows if you ask me. They’re far more valuable, personable and entertaining. I have a very long commute to work so I often times get tired of listening to music all the time. On a days I don’t feel like having a car concert, I will turn on a good ol’ podcast. There are so many podcasts out there for you to choose from. I tend to listen to podcasts that cover, pop culture, current events, relationships, social media marketing tips, entrepreurship, and faith based. I have a great mix of valuable/inspring content and content you can listen to for pure entertainment. I’ve compiled 4 great inspirational podcasts, and 4 good entreating podcasts for when you need a good laugh.
Let’s Start off with the Inspirational Podcasts:
Myliek Teele’s My Taught You Podcast
Wow What more can I say about Myliek. Her podcasts helped me get through some low points. You know when you’re at job you’re not so thrilled to be at and you know you deserve better? Her podcasts helped me focus my time and energy on improving my value. She taught to me to continuously show up for myself day in and day out even when my surroundings sucked. Some of the topics she covers are business tips, financial advice, career advice, entreprership advice, and inspiring content that will help us become our best selves. She speaks in such a genuine and easy to understand manner. I always feel as though I left with valuable information after listening to her podcast. Check out her podcast here.
Dreams In Drive-Host Rana Campbell
Rana Campbell is a Jersey Native who provides encouraging and motivational content for creatives through engaging interviews. She interviews a lot of content creators and business owners. This was another podcast that got me through my last job and it continues to inspire me along my journey. This podcast will resonate more with millennials who feel they are stuck in there careers and need motivation. This podcast is also for those who love listening to encouraging content on a daily basis. Theres a little bit of something on Dreams in Drive for everyone. Check out her podcast here.
Transformation Church has become the go to church for millennial believers worldwide. They have a massive online church community. I can honestly consider myself a member of their online church community. Pastor Michael Todd preaches a word EVERY TIME! His sermons on sunday are immediately uploaded to apple podcasts by monday morning. Sometimes they’re uploaded on sunday night which is even better. I always look forward to listening to his sermons on Monday morning. He’s a millennial himself which I believe differentiate’s him from other pastors. He has a unique way of reaching millennials through God’s word. He exudes so much transparency during his sermons. Its amazing, simply put. I feel as though God has used him as vessel to speak to me in so many ways. I discovered his sermons through Social Media. You’re equipped with so much knowledge when the two of them come together. The information, tips, and strategies I’ve gained from them are so valuable and easy to understand. Now to the more Entertaining Podcasts: The good stuff I’m sure you all really wanted to hear about
Cocktales: Dirty Discussions with Keke & Medinah Monroe
I was actually introduced to this podcast by a friend. It’s pure entertainment. I do want to warn you it is a sex podcast if you haven’t already figured it out. What I also love about this podcast is the way the podcasters throw in pop culture, current events, and my favorite; the topic of relationships. It’s not as raunchy as some of the other sex podcasts out there. It’s a platform for women to discuss their sexuality, career related topics, and relationships. If you need a good laugh during your commute, I highly recommend this podcast. Check out the link here to learn more.
Guys Next Door
Guys Next Door is an all male podcast consisting of 3 young professionals between the ages of 30-36. It’s very refreshing and insightful listening to the perspectives of a millennial man in this day and age. They cover all of the juicy stuff. They cover relationships, dating, music, social issues, current events, pop culture etc. What made me really fall in love with this podcast was how relatable all 3 of them were. Each person brings a unique perspective to the table which makes conversations and debates interesting! I definitely would not want to listen to a podcast where everyone had the same opinion on specific topics. They also make it a priority to mention a mental health tip at the end of each episode. I’d consider this an entertainment podcast, however it also is in some ways an inspirational podcast. If Im ever having a bad day, I always turn their podcast on. Guys Next Door Podcast
Angela Yee’s Lip Service
From the title of the podcast you’re probably thinking, another sex podcast Dayna? I personally don’t consider it a sex podcast, but they do talk about relationships, sex, careers, current events, pop culture etc with the hottest artists in hip hop and R&B. I find this one of the more informative entrainment podcasts. I’ve discovered several new books from listening to this podcasts, as well as just tips of being a boss woman! Angela Yee is one of the host on the nationally syndicated radio morning show: The Breakfast Club. She hosts the podcast with two other women who are well off in their respected careers. One of the things that made me fall in love with this podcasts is one their transparency but also how successful and career driven all of them are. Yes they talk about normal topics you would discuss with your closest girlfriends, they can get raunchy sometimes, but they do not forget their why when it’s all said and done. Their honest, informative, and entertaining. Lip Service Podcast
Yes, Girl! Podcast
Yes, Girl podcast is brought to you by the Black Girl Magic Headquarters. If you thought Essence Magazine then you’re absolutely right. Great thinking. I recently started listening to this podcast, and I am HOOKED! Every episode features interviews with celebrities, politicians, influencers, plus the tea of the week. Let’s also not forget our most favorite topics, love, relationships, news, race, and business. My favorite episode is the one where Jessie Woo sat as a guest. I was drawn to how relatable the podcast is. The guests they interview have very similar journey’s to mine in a sense. I resonated with Jessie Woo’s story because I too felt and sometimes still feel the way she was feeling when she was “in process” you’ll have to listen to the episode to see what I’m talking about!
