Winter Season is upon us which means it’s time for all of the layering to begin! As a busy millennial I’m always searching for options that will fit with into my busy lifestyle and will essentially get me out the door. I need something that can go from desk to dinner, something thats easy to throw on but also chic during the work week. A lot of the style tips I’ve seen shared on winter layering are not actually warm options. Below I’m going to dive into some tips and outfit ideas for you to implement into your day to day for you to stay warm and chic during the winter season.
Tip 1: Long Double Breasted Coat w/TurtleNeck
There are so many ways you can layer up a turtle neck. One way I love to stay chic and warm during the winter season is by throwing on a neutral colored turtle neck with a double breasted coat. The photo in this post is such a perfect example. It’s so simple yet so chic! How can you go wrong. It’s super easy to throw on and its a classic look. You’re ready and out the door, but in style of course!

Tip 2: Pair a Blazer with your Blouses/T-Shirts
For my ladies with a 9-5 and side hustles on the side, this one is for you! Blazers are so much fun to play with in the office! It can be easily paired with a blouse or a graphic tee. I would recommend following up with some dark washed or regular denim with a touch of some chic booties. The booties will help pull the look together, with the blazer providing that much needed professional touch. You also already know these companies never like to crank up the heat during the winter, therefore blazers make such a professional and stylish statement when you layer it with a T-Shirt or Blouse.

Tip 3: Sweater / Blazer Combo
I challenge you to pair one of your thinner sweaters with a few blazers you own. It’s a warm and cozy alternative to just wearing the sweater, and you also wont feel too bulky. I know how annoying it is try to fit your extremely thick sweater through the arm hole of one of your favorite blazers or jackets. Its so uncomfortable, I know. When you’re getting ready in the morning it’s even more mentally bearing trying to get that arm hole through with that thick sweater you have on.
Tip 4: Graphic Tee with Moto Jacket
This is a great layering option when you’re out on the town or if you’re wanting to have some fun with your work outfits. Of course with an appropriate graphic tee. Again, you’re not doing too much thinking when you’re putting this together. Get you a leather jacket and some interesting graphic tees that can be easily paired with it. The key is to style outfits that are easy to throw on but also chic at the same time. This is certainly a must have look.

Tip 5: Turtle Neck Sweater with Leather Jacket
This is my go to look on a cold winter day paired with my suede leggings! You can easily pair a turtle neck sweater (they are super warm) with a Leather Jacket. It’s a minimalist look, but it get the job done while also looking very chic.

Tip 6: Sweater Cardigan/Paired with Top
Another one of my favorite layering options. This is a great look for many different occasions.
Sweater Cardigans are ideal on days where you just don’t feel like trying with your outfit, like at all. You literally just throw on and you’re out the door. It feels like I’m repeating myself but thats how simple layering is! For added warmth, I’d even pair a scowl scarf on a real chilly day followed up with some over the knee boots. It’s a comfortable alternative that can bring you throughout the day for more than one occasion.

When in doubt, always grab a cardigan, blazer, leather jacket, or Long Double Breasted Coat to layer with your everyday clothing. All three can be easily worn underneath a blouse, t-shirt, and turtle neck. These pieces are essential for layering as they help bring the whole outfit together. Theres so much you can do with each of these pieces. Hopefully this gave you some outfit ideas that for your winter layering! What’s one of your favorite ways to layer in the winter?
